Past Workshops
Wild Fermentation
Fermented foods were historically important before widespread refrigeration, as a way to preserve abundant foods, from grains and vegetables to dairy, beans, meats, and fruit. We'll talk about foods that are a part of the traditional diets of "cultures" all over the planet. Fermentation provides friendly probiotic bacteria into our diets, and often changes the biochemistry and flavor of the food in favorable ways. We will be tasting and learning processes for many common ferments.

Wind Turbine Towers Workshop
Make and Install a Tower for a Small Wind Turbine
Wind turbines need smooth, fast-moving air to live up to their potential. The most reliable location is up on a tall tower. But, towers are extremely complicated to fabricate and dangerous to erect, especially if you’ve never had hands-on experience. This intensive multi-day hands-on class covers tower types, the theory of tower design, tower foundation design and engineering, rigging, wind turbine installation and balance of system, and culminates with raising and lowering a wind turbine on a tilt-up tower.
Who should attend? Farmers, engineers, students and educators interested in:
- Owning and maintaining a small wind power generation system
- Working in the wind energy field
- Learning about wind tower design and construction
- Understanding distributed energy generation technology
