This intensive multi-day hands-on class covers tower types, the theory of tower design, tower foundation design and engineering, rigging, wind turbine installation and balance of system, and culminates with raising and lowering a wind turbine on a tilt-up tower.

This intensive multi-day hands-on class covers tower types, the theory of tower design, tower foundation design and engineering, rigging, wind turbine installation and balance of system, and culminates with raising and lowering a wind turbine on a tilt-up tower.

In this six-day hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to fabricate and install a tilt-up tower for a small wind turbine. You will develop knowledge and skills in metalworking, wiring, tower design, foundations and rigging.
During this workshop attendees will complete and install at least one approximately 100 foot tall tilt-up tower for a small wind turbine.
We will learn about different types of towers and their advantages and limitations. Time permitting, we will raise a wind tower with an existing small wind turbine. Attendees will fabricate tilt-up tower from scratch. This is an ambitious workshop so expect to stay busy! Participants will not take home a tower with them, but will gain valuable experience they can apply when installing and operating their own small wind generators.
